"...By the time the event opened to the public the music was blasting, classic cars were admired, the sun was shining, and people were hungry! As the afternoon continued judging weighed on the minds of all fourteen teams. The judges that made up the well rounded, food loving panel were, Joel Schipper, local news anchor for WNDU; May Lee Johnson, "BBQ Expert" and writer for the South Bend Tribune; Patsy Wyman, Culinary Instructor at Ivy Tech Culinary Institute; and Lisa Malin, College Football Hall of Fame Executive Director. Tasting fourteen different types of ribs sounds like a breeze, but the judges had a tough job ahead of them.

Entertainment with Mack Pherson and the Struts began at 5:00pm and excited the crowd well into the night. The fans danced and enjoyed the evening, while grilling teams awaited the announcement. Finally, when the scores had been tallied the winners were announced. First Place- Professional: J Willy's BBQ House, Second Place- Professional: Backstage Grill, First Place- Amateur: JDM (Communications), Second Place- Amateur: Xtrodinary/Xquiste, and the People's Choice: The Landing Restaurant and Catering.

As the event wrapped up, some were happy, some disappointed, but everyone had to agree that the overall event was a success! There was not another drop of rain and the smell of barbecue filled the air- to some, it doesn't get any better."
